Bill gates enjoyed the position of world’s second-richest man for a long time but now Bernard Arnault has taken his position. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the CEO of luxury goods maker LVMH has become the new second richest person in the world.
French billionaire Arnault has a net worth of around $108 billion and the Microsoft founder has a total net worth of $107 billion. So, Arnault received the second position and Bill Gates slipped to the third position in the index of Bloomberg Billionaires.
It is the first time in the last seven years when Bill Gates name is not there in the top two names of the richest man in the world. Until the release of the new Bloomberg Billionaires index, the French businessman Bernard Arnault was enjoying the third position in the index. But 2019 brings more profit to him and he added $39 billion to his fortunes.
This profit made him the second richest man in the world and to leave behind Bill Gates in terms of Net worth. Bernard Arnault is the only man among the 500 others who earned the biggest profit of $39 billion this year. Bernard Arnault acquired a textile group owned by Christian Dior in 1984 and sold it later to buy a controlling stake in LVMH. Now LVMH is the world’s largest luxury goods makers.
Amazon chief Jeff Bezos is still on the top of the list with the tag of the richest person in the world with his total worth of $125 billion. Bill Gates enjoys the top position in the index of the richest person in the world for a long time. After his philanthropic giving, he slipped from his position in the index. Bill gates have donated over $35 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
